Who is Ron?
I am a married Christian man with 2 daughters and 2 step-sons. My older son has twins (Ethan and Gillian) which makes me a grandpa, although I don't feel like one.
I play drums and keyboards for my church band each Sunday. It's contemporary, with music like Steven Curtis Chapman, DC Talk and Point of Grace. We like to mix in an occassional pop song like Pat Green or Creed. I hope to post some mp3 files shortly.
I have recently started composing music, some of which we have played on Sundays. You can find out more about my music at my personal site http://lisles.net/ron
I like to scuba dive, ride my Goldwing, bowl, play C&C and LotR, and an occassional rubber or two of bridge.
My wife and I like to go out to movies, or stay in with our home theatre and a pizza. We like watching popular TV shows like 24, but prefer watching them a season-at-a-time once they are available on Net Flix DVD instead of watching them on TV week-to-week.
Awhile back we purchased "his & hers" matching Yamaha V-Star Classic motorcycles. A year later we traded mine in for a Goldwing so we could 2-up on longer trips. Our first trip we trailered the bike out to Yellowstone. Earlier this year we drove it all the way from Austin, TX to California for the Laguna Seca motorcycle races, with a side trip through Yosemite. We like to scuba dive. We got our scuba diving certification in the Dominican Republic, and have dived in Bonaire since then.
MIDI Software Background
I've been involved with MIDI since shortly after it began. I was IBM's representative to the MIDI Manufacturer's Association (MMA) for a few years. I have designed several software synthesizers for both Intel and Power PC platforms.
Currently I am a software engineer with IDT (previously SigmaTel). I still program professionally, but nothing MIDI related. That's why I'm doing this as a hobby.
